Company History

Davenport Transport Ltd – Burscough, Lancashire

In 1989, at the age of just 20 and financed from his savings earned as a local farm worker, Managing Director John Davenport founded Davenport Transport.

Working out of a shed in his mum’s back garden, John began making deliveries for the local market gardeners whilst his mum, Betty, took care of the administrative side of the business.

Such was the success of those early days that the business soon relocated to larger premises in Longton where it continued to expand and take on more staff, becoming a Limited Company in 2001.

Continued development and investment meant that in July 2003 Davenport Transport purchased purpose built premises in Burscough.

With an increasing recruitment of new staff, these brand new offices are able to accommodate the continually expanding vehicle fleet, and enable Davenport Transport to provide logistical solutions to a diverse client base, ranging from local farmers to the major grocery multiples.

Whilst Davenport has continued to go from strength to strength, the Company has never forgotten its humble beginnings.

With such a diverse customer base, taking time to understand our client’s needs enables Davenport Transport to work with our clients in delivering bespoke solutions combined with the utmost levels of service.

At Davenport Transport we feel our personable approach to business, combined with the highest levels of service will enable us to continue to grow and develop with our customers, not only meeting, but exceed their expectations.
